CONTEST! Win Tickets to Film Festival!
Big Island On The Cheap is pleased to offer another terrific contest! Win free tickets to the opening night of the Big Island Film Festival! Details at end of this post.

The fourth annual Big Island Film Festival is a “Talk Story” film festival, a celebration of independent narrative filmmakers and their short and feature films. Movies, special events, Hawaiian culture, Hawaiian music, wrapped in the Spirit of Aloha makes the Talk Story film festival an event that is becoming a premiere event on the beautiful Kohala Coast of Hawaii Island.
The event runs from May 14 – 17, 2009 at the Waikoloa Beach Resort and if you’re kama‘aina, you’ll be able to take advantage of a discount.
- General Admission to evening films: $15 (Kama’aina, $10).
- Best of the Fest General Admission Adults $35 (Kama’aina, $25)
- Keiki 6-12 general admission, $10 (Kama’aina, $5).
- Under 6 free.
- Active duty military with proper ID will be admitted to all films FREE of charge.
There are nine Hawai‘i filmmakers participating in this year’s event, and in the next week you’ll hear from a couple of them right here on Big Island On The Cheap. But in the meantime:
Enter our contest to win a pair of tickets to opening night Thursday, May 14th! Tickets are good at either venue: Festival Theater (Waikoloa Bowl at Queens’ Gardens) or the Ohana Theater (The Studio at Queens’ MarketPlace).
To enter, leave a comment here and tell us how you heard about Big Island On The Cheap. Entries must be received before midnight Hawai‘i time on May 10, 2009. Full contest rules.

I heard about it through a friend.
My friend told me she had a film there 3 years ago that won best short animation!
I would love to get awarded tickets to this as I heard about on Twitter! I live in Waikoloa right now. It’s hot! But the evenings are wonderful, no mosquitoes.
I wish this Film Festival was a two day festival.
One day on the West side and one day on the East Side.
I’ll leave my name out of this one and give someone else a chance to win, however, I hope the people behind the festival will read this comment and give that some thought.
MY SISTER TOLD ME
I won’t be on island at the time of the film festival but hey I give it a try. If I win we have family and friends who would like to get the free tickets.
Of course, I included the Big Island Fim Festival in my Kohala Coast events http://www.kohalacoastweb.com/kohala-coast-events.htm As in the past, it will attract many Big Island visitors to the Waikoloa Beach Resort.
I’ve found your tweet on my @PuaHawaii Twitter tweets.

It wasn’t a contest when I entered! On this page tickets were being given to the first people who left a message here and said where they heard about it. Suddenly there was only ONE set of tickets too. This web page got changed – that’s not fair to change the rules on the entrants.
Fran, the contest was always for a random giveaway of one pair of tickets, which the BIFF folks generously donated. I’m sorry you were mistaken. We’ll have more contests in the future – I hope you’ll come back and enter to win again!
